Nespresso Vertuo vs Original: Which Coffee Machine Is Right for You?

The original Nespresso system is quite easy to use and is ideal for people who like to drink shots of Espresso or very short coffees. The majority of original Nespresso machines either come with a built-in milk frother or can be purchased as an extra with the Nespresso Aeroccino frothing accessory. So they are very good options for the fans of cappuccino or lattes, too. 

Unlike other capsule system brands such as Tassimo and Dolce Gusto, there is also a thriving market in third-party Nespresso pods, which are compatible with most Original Nespresso machines, providing you with a wide range of coffee selections to try.

While own branded Nespresso capsules are only available in Nespresso stores and you can buy them online, third-party capsules are widely available and can be found in Supermarkets.

There is no milk frother, and beverages are designed to suit better with cold milk. So it is a good bet if you like to enjoy a long Americano to a Cappuccino. It also means that you don’t need to use several capsules to get your decent-sized coffee.

The Vertuo system is a good option for those who prefer to have long-sized coffees, but as of yet, there are no manufacturers of compatible third-party pods. So Vertuo owners will have to deal with Nespresso's own branded capsules, which can be bought either online or by visiting a Nespresso boutique.

It is characterized by the simplicity of Nespresso machines when it comes to coffee preparation. There are no discounts in the quality of brewing, so the flavor, taste, and aromas are close to a Barista's grade. It is a little slower than Vertuo, but only 10 seconds in the pre-heating procedure. 

We liked the folding drip tray since we use our travel mugs very often. The device is also equipped with the energy saver feature and with an Aeroccino bundle. The coating of Aeroccino is anti-stick and will not create any burden in cleaning, and does not bother you with vibrations or noises while operating.

What I disliked

A little smaller water tank and a used pods dispenser. These may not bother you if you clean and change water on a daily basis. Or will not trouble you at all if the coffee maker is placed near your water tap.
